Dog behind a car
There’s an old story about a dog whose leash got stuck in his owner’s car door and was forced to run behind the car. A motorcycle officer noticed the vehicle and chased down the car and stopped it.
The officer was quoted as saying, “He was picking them up and putting them down as fast as he could.” The dog suffered from no ill effects other than being ruffled a bit when he rolled once or twice along the way.
Now the dog was a basset hound, whose legs are pretty short, so you can imagine the scene.
Isn’t that a good illustration of some peoples’ lives? They’re picking them up and putting them down as fast as they can. Their lives are so full of activity that hearing about God’s Kingdom just can’t be part of their routine.
God will help me, you’ll see.
As the flood waters started to get higher and higher, many people started to leave their home, other had to be evacuated.
One man did not want to leave his home.
The water started to come in the house, and some people came by in a small boat, they called out to him and said come in the boat we have room. But he called back, don’t worry I have faith in God, he will help me, you’ll see.
Soon he had to go up to the second floor as the waters were getting higher. Then a larger boat came by, but he again refused the help offered to him, stating that he was putting his trust in God, he will help me, you’ll see.
If was not long before he found himself up on the roof and a helicopter came to help but again he refused stating the the Almighty would help him and that he trusted in him.
Well during the night he drowned and ended up at the gates of heaven. There he started to complain and wonder why the God who he had trusted in had not come to his aid.
Well, God said, first I sent you a small boat than a larger one and finally a helicopter, but you refused all the help that I sent you, so I could not do anything else but to let you die.
Thus that sound like many of the people we meet out in the ministry, they cannot see that Jehovah is sending us over and over again, and yet they refuse to get the help that God is sending them.
Pig and acorn
A pig ate his fill of acorns under an oak tree and then started to root around the tree. A crow remarked, “You should not do this. If you lay bare the roots, the tree will wither and die.” “Let it die,” said the pig. “Who cares as long as there are acorns?”
