George got stung by a bee and said,
“I wouldn’t have got stung if I’d stayed in bed.”
Fred got stung and we heard him roar,
“What am I being punished for?”
Lew got stung and we heard him say,
“I learned somethin’ about bees today.”
God didn’t promise
days without pain,
laughter without sorrow
or sun without rain.
But God did promise
strength for the day,
comfort for the tears
and a light for the way,
And for all who believe
in His kingdom above,
He answers their faith
with everlasting love.
There once was an oyster whose story I tell,
Who found that sand had got under his shell,
Just one little grain, but it gave him much pain,
For oysters have feelings although they’re so plain.
Now, did he berate the working of fate,
Which had led him to such a deplorable state?
Did he curse out the government, call for an election?
No; as he lay on the shelf he said to himself
“If I cannot remove it, I’ll try to improve it.”
So the years rolled by as the years always do,
And he came to his ultimate destiny — stew.
And this small grain of sand which had bothered him so,
Was a beautiful pearl, all richly aglow.
Now this tale has a moral — for isn’t it grand
What an oyster can do with a morsel of sand;
What couldn’t we do if we’d only begin
With all of the things that get under our skin.
Keep On Keeping On
Life is hard with its twists and turns
As every one of us eventually learns.
Unfortunately some get discouraged and turn about
When they could have won had they stuck it out!
So don’t give up cause you’re not going fast
The one who succeeds is the one who will last!!
Your goal may come much sooner than you think
So keep your hope strong and don’t let it sink!!
Because you never can tell just how close you are
What you seek may be near when it seems afar!
So just keep going even when you’re hardest hit
It’s when things seem worse that you mustn’t quit!
Yes, when things go wrong as they sometimes will
When the road you’r traveling seems all uphill
When your funds are low and your debts are high
When troubles seem to pile way up to the sky!!
Even when pressures and problems get you down a bit
Rest if you must – but just don’t Quit!
Sometimes a struggler will give up cause he’s tired
When with renewed zeal he could have been fired!
But some learn all too late, what might have been
However it’s folks like that – that can never win!
So take a lesson from the duck when the going gets bad
Stay calm and serene on the surface – but underneath
PADDLE LIKE MAD
Anxieties (Robin and Sparrow)
Said the robin to the sparrow
“I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush around and worry so.”
Said the sparrow to the robin,
“Friend, I think that it must be
They have no heavenly Father
Such as cares for you and me.”
The Enduring Flower
Amid a field of grass, a lovely flower grows.
It often must endure as the harsh wind blows.
To fight against the parching heat,
Or the choking roots beneath.
She relies upon the nurturing shower.
Over all this adversity to tower.
Life presents so many trials that all must be endured.
The flower’s success in over coming them shows she has matured.
There are several that find this flora pleasant to their eyes,
The field’s owner is, however very protective of her prize.
Some, when confronted were quickly scared away,
While others when asked their interest knew not what to say.
“Can you truly care for it, and do you really know her needs?”
“Will you properly feed her always and keep her free from weeds?”
“Do you see her outer beauty and only wish to stare?”
“Or do you desire all her attributes and for her to truly care?”
I tell you truly now my friend only one can her owner be.
Only for one special someone will she flower eternally.
This one will have to encourage her, for her always there to be.
Helping her inner beauty to shine for all the world to see.
